The NFL acknowledged to the Steelers that two penalties were wrongly called against the Steelers during their win over the Bengals, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The calls were the same ones that Steelers coach Mike Tomlin complained about: a roughing the passer flag on NT Casey Hampton; and a pass interference penalty on CB Ike Taylor that led to a Bengal TD.
The NFL admitted that Hampton shouldn’t have been flagged because he hit Palmer in the thigh, not the knee. The official who flagged Taylor was out of position.
The NFL regularly acknowledges these mistakes to the teams involved but cannot stand when the information gets released to the public.
