Prosecutors urge court to uphold Bonds conviction

Not surprisingly, Federal prosecutors have asked a judge to uphold the jury verdict which found Barry Bonds guilty of obstruction of justice.

Bonds has asked that the verdict be thrown out or that he be granted a new trial.

Seems to me that Bonds should be thankful that he got off relatively lightly and that the repurcussions are far less than he could have received.

Getting a new trial might be one of the worst things for Bonds, not only due to the costs involved, but because the issue has already started to fade out of the spotlight.  A new trial will only highlight the issue and will expose Bonds to much greater downside risk.
