Florida DE Floyd ruled ineligible for opener against FAU

Florida sophomore DE Sharrif Floyd was ruled ineligible for the Gators’ season opener against Florida Atlantic according to an AP report.

“We have declared Sharrif Floyd ineligible and he is not eligible to compete until his eligibility is reinstated the NCAA,” the university’s athletic department said in a statement. “We have been and will continue to work with the NCAA until this matter is resolved. This is an issue that is not related to sports agents, University of Florida boosters or his recruitment to Florida. We will not have any additional comment on this matter until it is resolved.”

Just like another case this weekend, you have to wonder what this relates to if it is not agents, boosters or recruitment?  That tends to leave primarily drugs, alcohol, academics or another criminal offense.
