Serena Williams was fined $2000 for her outburst at the chair umpire during the Women’s Final at the U.S. Open.
It was not the first time she has been fined but if there is really a desire to deter conduct, $2000 for a player that earned $1.4 million from her performance at the U.S. Open is unlikely to achieve that goal.
Serena exploded after her excited comment after hitting a winner was ruled to have occurred prior to the point being over therefore causing her to lose a break point to open the second set.
