Bank foreclosing on OJ’s Florida home

The AP reports that court records in Florida show that in September JPMorgan Chase filed for foreclosure on the fallen football star’s home near downtown Miami.

Simpson, serving a 9-to-33-year prison sentence in Nevada for his armed confrontation with sports memorabilia dealers in 2007, purchased the 4,200-square-foot house in 2000 for $575,000. The current assessed value is $478,401.

Simpson has been strapped financially ever since a civil jury ordered him to pay $33.5 million for the wrongful slaying of Ronald Goldman. The Goldman family is still trying to collect, and gets Simpson’s residual payments from his movie performances. The attorney for the Goldman family, David J. Cook, told the AP the foreclosure is “No surprise at all.”
